Students this summer at the Lubavitch Hebrew Academy in Florida are thrilled to be with friends and even more excited that classes will resume in-house this September.
After a long hiatus stuck on Zoom, even parents are celebrating. In their words, “My children missed their friends and teachers, Tzivos Hashem, Nosh N’ Niggun, Achei T’mimim and other programs.”
Several months ago, the school which serves the Anash communities of Broward and Palm Beach counties, created a multi-pronged Task Force to develop a pragmatic plan that addresses children’s physical and emotional health, educational needs and to maximize facility usage. Their approach was designed to be cohesive, transparent, and driven by government and local health professionals to lower risk to students and faculty. Safety, was and is, their top priority.
They also created mitigation strategies. These guidelines, already implemented in their Summer Program, include protective gear, social distancing, temperature and wellness checks, daily sanitizing, AC units with HEPA filters and other protocols to create a low-risk environment while still allowing children to experience the full educational, Chassidishe environment, social and emotional benefits of school.
Students will receive a protected tech device, so if necessary, children temporarily quarantined can still participate on-line with their classmates. Rabbi Yossie Denburg, the school’s founder and dean, recognizes that the school’s growth has always been based on adapting to new realities. “That same attitude applies today more than ever. So expect us to be prepared and proactive.” For more information call 954-978-6341.
