Dr. Nicholas Suite, a neurologist and President and Founder of Neurology Diagnosis & Applied Solutions (NDAS) in Hollywood, Florida, recently shared his encounter with the Rebbe.
Board-certified and Johns Hopkins educated, Dr. Suite is a Cornell-trained neurologist who also taught and trained at the University of Miami. He serves on the teaching faculty at American Heritage School and The Kiran Patel School of Allopathic Medicine at Nova University.
In a recent video, Dr. Suite recalled a profound experience from his time as an intern at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
“When I was an intern at Cornell, I had the opportunity of looking after many people and I met many of the Hasidic community,” he said. Among them was Rabbi Shmaryahu Gurary (the Rashag) and his family.
“But the Rebbe was a special case,” he continued. “He was very ill at New York Hospital. I had the opportunity of examining him with his students.”
After conducting a CAT scan on the Rebbe, Dr. Suite said, “I concluded as a scientist, that it’s impossible for him to speak or communicate or understand.” But what happened next left a deep impression on him.
“I went to the bedside, and the students told me, ‘no, watch this.’ They proceeded to talk to him very gently, very softly in his ear as he was laying in his stretcher in the ICU. They asked him certain questions about Torah, and he was responding with insights and answers. And they were just marveling.”
“So I concluded, as a Jamaican boy growing up in the Islands, that this was no ordinary man,” Dr. Suite reflected. “And that was my first exposure to the Lubavitcher Rebbe. It just blew my mind.”

Thank you very much for sharing!!
The rebbe is not bound by limits of the body.
This story is very nice. Unlikely to have happened
He presumably embellished his memory. The event, if at all true, realistically could have been simply that he was amazed by any aspect of the Rebbe’s then responsiveness the extent of which he probably doesn’t recall..
Was the Rebbe ever in New York Hospital???
