The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for New York City for Sunday evening until 9 PM.
Additional rainfall over the next hour will be light, but heavier rain is expected later this evening.
With an already saturated ground, another expected 1 to 3 inches was expected to bring flooding concerns.
A flash flood warning may be issued later this evening. Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low-lying spots.
The last of the steadiest rain should be moving north of New York City shortly after midnight, with quick clearing overnight.
Preparedness Actions:
– Do not drive your vehicle or walk into areas where water covers the roadway as the water depth may be too great to allow you to cross safely.
– New Yorkers are advised to limit travel and stay inside during periods of severe weather.
