Please fasten your seatbelt and welcome Rabbi Goldstein.
A flight attendant on a Delta flight to San Diego made a special announcement inspired by one of its passengers, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, Director of Chabad of Poway who was injured last week in an anti-Semitic shooting attack on his center.
The Chabad Rabbi was injured on his fingers, while community member Lori Kaye was killed in what was the second deadly attack on an American synagogue in a half a year.
Rabbi Goldstein was personally invited by President Donald Trump for a meeting in the Oval Office and to address the National Day of Prayer at the White House on Thursday.
As reported on COLlive.com, Rabbi Goldstein then continued to New York to pray at the Rebbe‘s Ohel in Queens and from there took a flight back to California.
Traveling with him was Rabbi Simon Jacobson, a scholar and bestselling author of “Towards a Meaningful Life,” who introduced Rabbi Goldstein to Delta’s staff.
The flight attendant went on to make a public announcement on board: “I’d also like to recognize Rabbi Goldstein’s courage as he is using this as a platform to reach out to all of us, to speak to us, all religions, races, ethnicities, encouraging us to practice random acts of kindness, to be more respectful and more loving towards one another.”
She added that Rabbi Goldstein is calling on the public “not focus on what is not here any longer, but in any small way we should try to make a positive impact on the lives that are here.”
She concluded, “Thank you to Rabbi Goldstein,” and received enthusiastic applause from fellow passengers.
Thousands around America and the world are expected to attend services at their local Chabad center or synagogue following Rabbi Goldstein’s rallying call to “fill the synagogues” following the attack. In Poway, he plans a special Shabbos with Rabbi Jacobson as a guest speaker and prayers with cantors Shlomie Rabin and Fitz Rabin.
