Florida Governor Rick Scott lit a menorah in his office ahead of the Jewish holiday of Chanukah, alongside Chabad Rabbi Schneur Oirechman his wife Chanie.
Also present were the bochurim helping Chabad Tallahassee this year, Dov Ber Abraham and Ari Levertov.
For the first time in the capital’s history, Governor Scott has welcomed a display of a 9 foot Menorah in the Capitol rotunda. It was sponsored by Simon and Jana Falic of the Falic Family Foundation.
Michael Sevi, a member of Chabad Tallahassee who is the Deputy Chief of Staff and who oversees cabinet affairs for the Governor, arranged it.
This coming Thursday, Governor Scott will host at his mansion a formal Chanukah celebration for Shluchim and guests from all over Florida.
