First Chanukah Candle Lit in the Rebbe’s Room in 770
The first Chanukah candle was lit in the Rebbe's room, upstairs in 770 Eastern Parkway on Sunday night, the first night of Chanukah, by R’ Menachem Mendel Gurary, instead of his grandfather R’ Chaim Boruch Halberstam who is sitting shiva for his brother. Photos

Just wondering, Why is a candle lit, rather than oil and a wick?
thats how we light in a shul, i think it says it in shevach yekar, u cld check up the source there, and i think it also says it in sefer haminhagim, and remember look at the videos of menorah by the rebbe they did that every year
Thanks very much.
