Ready, set.. action!
Filmmaker Danny Finkelman and his crew were seen walking around the streets of Crown Heights recently, interviewing residents and filming scenes from the daily life on Kingston Avenue.
Finkelman was recording clips that will be edited into an upcoming music video, a collaboration between community news service COLlive.com in honor of its 10th anniversary and 8th Day, one of the most in-demand Jewish acts today.
The final scene to be shot will include a “flash mob” planned to take place on Thursday, October 4 at 4:00 PM on the corner of Albany and Eastern Parkway.
A slew of musicians joined for the video recording, while 8th Day’s Shmuel Marcus and Bentzi Marcus are flying in from California to New York to lead the flash mob on Thursday to Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway.
Finkelman of Sparks Next Productions, along with producer Chaya Greenberg, said the music video is a salute to the Crown Heights Jewish community and its upbeat, Chassidic and welcoming lifestyle.
The music video will be debuted this Sunday, following the COLlive 10th Anniversary Bash, a community-wide celebration from 12:30pm to 4:00pm bringing the community together following the Tishrei month.
An all-star lineup of the greatest Jewish singers will be performing at the event, among them Benny Friedman, Yoni Z, Eli Marcus, Shmuely Ungar, Boruch Sholom, Peretz Chein, Mendy J and surprise appearances.
Divrei Torah will be opening the event, followed by music from musician Chony Milecki, a live show by the beloved cast of Mitzvah Boulevard and comedy by the renowned entertainer Modi.
“We are humbled by how the Crown Heights community has embraced COLlive since our founding in 2008, bringing a fresh and clear voice to frum news,” said Mica Soffer, Publisher and Editor of COLlive.com. “This is another way for us to give back to the community.”
The event is free and open for the entire community. There will be bounce houses, cotton candy, popcorn, balloons and giveaways, providing a fun and enjoyable time for the whole family.
Sponsors of the event include Basil Hospitality Group, Kettle & Cord Housewares, Borsalino Crown Heights, Joseph Zakon Winery, Chony Milecki, Chani Greenbaum Events, Mendy’s Restaurant, Chocolatte and Sweet Expressions.
