A team from the Civil Rights Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) recently visited the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights for a day conference, led by Special Agent in Charge Christopher Donahue.
They were welcomed by Mrs. Devorah Halberstam, co-founder of the museum, a Community Liaison for the NYPD and a veteran advocate against terrorism and hate crimes and in support of its victims.
At the meeting, which took place last month, they enjoyed a tour of the museum and heard about its mission of promoting tolerance and understanding and fighting terrorism.
They talked over lunch about hate crimes and the federal laws pertaining to them.
Over the period of time since then, the FBI has been having an ongoing conversation with Halberstam regarding the recent uptick of hate crimes which have invaded the country and in particular the Jewish community.
