On Erev Shabbos last week the excitement was palpable as fathers started arriving from as far as Melbourne, Australia, for the annual father son Shabbos of Mesivta Lubavitch of Toronto, led by Rabbi Zalman Oster.
Families in the area eagerly hosted these special guests. Fathers came for a firsthand glimpse of the warm interaction of some of the finest mechanchim in Lubavitch today.
Friday afternoon found fathers and sons on Mivtzoim, the fathers proudly joining the Temimim in action.
Shabbos began with everyone joining the famous weekly indepth Parsha shiur offered by Rabbi Wilhelm, Magid Shiur of shiur bais.
The Friday night Seuda lasted well past midnight, with a feeling of varemkeit and Joy. Fathers were thrilled to feel the special Avir that they had heard so much about.
Shabbos morning began with Chassidus and the especially inspiring Davening with the Mesivta Bochurim.
The Seudas Shabbos was followed by an uplifting Farbrengen with the loved world over Mashpia Rabbi Vechter, and Magidei Shiurim of the Mesivta and parents sharing Divrei Hisorerus. The Farbrengen only paused for Mincha and then continued through the end of Shabbos.
The program on Motzei Shabbos, MC’d by Rabbi Dov Shochet, dynamic Magid Shiur of Shiur Alef, was held in 770 Chabad gate. It began with lively dancing in the spirit of Adar which was followed by vareme verter of Idud V’chizuk from the Rav of Chabad Toronto, Rabbi Dovid Schochet, and head Shliach Rabbi Grossbaum.
Rabbi Grossbaum stressed that the beauty and strength of a town is the Torah and Chassidus that is learned therein. This Mesivta is a core of the Chabad presence in Toronto.
As traditional The Fathers Shabbos was concluded with a warm & livley shiur bidvar halocho, by veteran Mechanech and Magid shiur of Shiur Gimel Rabbi Yosef Gorman, with exciting debate and warm words of idud.
The Shabbos left Temimim feeling very uplifted that their fathers joined and experienced with them. Fathers left uplifted, feeling assured that their sons are in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim that is Raui Lishmo.
As one father expressed “this Shabbos left me with feelings of Gaaguim to my days in yeshiva, and I am so thankful that my son is experiencing his Yeshiva years here in Mesivta of Toronto.”
Best mesivta hands down.
Rabbi Oster runs an amazing mesifta. Without him, Toronto could not have a successful Mesifta.
