This past Motzoai Shabbos, Montreal saw a beautiful Melava Malka for Fathers and sons, with an overflowing crowd of more than three hundred people.
Every Motzoai Shabbos throughout the winter, the main Shul in the Yeshiva is full of fathers learning with their sons. This wonderful and inspiring sight gives enormous chizuk to our community and sends a strong message to the boys about the importance of Torah and our commitment to it.
This week they celebrated with a grand Melave Malka. The evening started with the viewing of the weekly “Living Torah” video.
Hatalmid Chaim Wagner said a Dvar Torah as representative of the Yeshiva Talmidim who join the weekly “Father & Son” learning. He spoke about the connection of Parshas Bo and the upcoming auspicious day of Yud Shevat.
Rabbi Moshe Shur, Principal of Yeshiva Tomche Temimim, pointed out how beautiful it is to see the “Sheves Achim gam yochad” of fathers and sons sitting down together for a Melave Malka. He also summarized the ongoing projects in the Yeshiva throughout the winter, including the many various preparations for Yud Shevat, which are culminating this week, with raffles and prizes in all the grades.
Rabbi Yossi Kessler spoke on behalf of the parents. He told a story about the appreciation the Rebbe showed to someone who had helped Rebbetzin Chana. He also related how the parents of the community are appreciative of the ongoing events such as the daily “Yeshivas Erev-Tiferes Shlomo” and weekly “Father & Sons Learning” sponsored by Reb Meir Man. Reb Moshe Stern who runs the daily “Yeshivas Erev” presented R’ Meir Man with a beautiful framed picture of the Rebbe, as an appreciation for his ongoing support to these events.
The guest storyteller for the evening was Rebbee Hill who came in from New York for the even. He captured the attention of the overflowing crowd with two stories, each with a beautiful lesson about answering Amen loud and clear, and true Emunah in Hashem.
Avremel Zirkind enhanced the evening with the playing of Chassidishe music, and prizes were distributed to all the children by R’ Man. The Melave Malka was catered by Mendy Wilansky of “Mendy’s Kitchen”, who did a superb job, together with our seventh graders who helped with setting up and serving.
This event was organized by Reb Shmuel Vaisfiche, who runs the weekly “Father and Son Learning”, and many other beautiful projects in the Yeshiva. Thank you.
