Mesivta Lubavitch of Monsey held their first-ever father and son Shabbos this week, hosting 43 fathers who joined their sons for an uplifting 25 hours of bonding, learning and inspiration.
Parents attended from all around the world, traveling from as far as Australia and Hawaii, and from all over the US, to spend Shabbos with their sons. They were hosted at local homes and spent a full Shabbos together with their son and the Yeshiva staff. The father-son Shabbos was organized and led by the Yeshiva Menahel Rabbi Sender Lustig.
Following Mincha, Rabbi Lustig welcomed all fathers and spoke of the uniqueness of the Shabbos. A beautiful Chavrusa learning with the fathers then ensued, and a Sicha of the Rebbe was shared by Hatomim Moshe Lang followed by a Dvar Torah by Rabbi Ephraim Simon of Teaneck, NJ. The Seder Nigunim was especially meaningful with everyone joining in.
Beautiful, catered Shabbos meals were held at a Hall in the area. The entire Yeshiva joined with the Hanhallah and the fathers for a warm and uplifting Shabbos Seudah, with words of Torah, bonding, and farbrengens.
Friday night’s Meal was MC’d by Rabbi Levi Tiechtel, mashpia in Yeshiva, and speakers included Rabbi Yehuda Zaltzman, Mashpia in Yeshiva, Rabbi Asher Belles, Houston, TX, and Rabbi Dovid Schmukler, Crown Heights.
Following Shacharis, which included a Sicha by Hatomim Mendy Goldberg and Magid Shiur Rabbi Mendy Klyne, the Shabbos day meal took place at the Hall as well, followed by an all day Farbrengen. Talmidim Schneur Chein and Chaim Meir Steinmetz were instrumental in preparing for the Seudos.
The MC for the Shabbos day meal was Hashliach Yankel Reices, and speakers included Rabbi Shneur Vogel, Magid shiur in Yeshiva, Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel, Champaign, IL, Rabbi Moshe Bleich, Wellesley, MA, Rabbi Gershon Sandler, Airmont, NY and Rabbi Asher Goldshmidt, Dallas, TX.
A Maamer was recited on Shabbos afternoon by Hatomim Yossi Weinbaum.
After Shabbos, they gathered for a beautiful Melava Malka at the Yeshiva.
The MC for the evening was Rabbi Dudi Farkash. The evening included inspiring speeches by Hashliach Shmuly Bernstein, Hatomim Chaim Tzvi Geisinsky, Rabbi Sholom Leverton of Windsor, NJ and Rabbi Shloimie Kagan, Mashpia in Yeshiva. Closing out the formal part of the evening was Rabbi Moshe Liberow, director of the Yeshiva.
A video of the Rebbe was shown, as well as video greetings from some parents who were unable to attend in person. Live music by Hatomim Tzvi Schochet and niggunim led to spirited dancing at the end of the evening.
Parents were greatly impressed by the beautifully organized and uplifting Shabbos, noting repeatedly how content and happy the Talmidim are in Yeshiva and its warm chassidishe environment. Some fathers were emotional enjoying the wonderful nachas over Shabbos and many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to spend Shabbos at yeshiva with their son and how much they enjoyed the Shabbos.
The inspiration will not stop here, as “parents took on a Hachlata to begin learning on the phone with their sons in the future,” Rabbi Levi Tiechtel said.

It was indeed a beautiful and uplifting Shabbaton! The atmosphere, the gashmiyus and the ruchniyus were all thought out and meaningful. Most importantly, it demonstrated the TLC that the Hanhalah has to the success of the talmidim. Kol hakavod!
I wish my yeshiva had this
I must say this past shabbos was the most amazing inspirational in my life that I can remember
Spending Shabbos at the Yeshiva deepened my appreciation for all the work that the staff and Shluchim put in to making this Yeshiva the success it is.

The positive energy was palpable.
We highly recommend this mesivta.
So amazing to see how nicely the kids from different grades interacted with each other, like brothers from one big family. They encourage each other in ruchnius and gashmius.
This shabbos was one for the books. Getting to see upclose the miracle of this special space, brought it all home, why our son is growing so much. The ibbergegeben’keit from the hanhalah, the personal care, the level of learning, the shluchim, the living with the Rebbe; is truly special. It’s a bracha to have a mesivta which is in to the bochurim, it’s not all about about the moised and it’s image, it’s about the bochurim, every decision, program, learning, is what’s best for the bochurim. At a time when we are reading so many articles on COL about… Read more »
