Hundreds of Crown Heights residents participated in a day of family activities at One Crown Heights this past Sunday.
The day included a puppet show by Small Wonder Jewish Puppet Theater; live music and performances by Brooklyn artists; all the featured exhibits of Brooklyn Children’s Museum; kids’ activities with Jewish Children’s Museum, art, crats and street games; a music workshop, and more.
Museum visitors were able to design a roller coaster car in the ColorLab art studio, inspired by artist EJ Hill and build and test earthquake-resistant skyscrapers in the Nature’s Engineers STEM makerspace.
NYC Comptroller Brad Lander joined in an animated discussion about community issues at the ‘Community Conversations Tent: Neighbors to Neighbors, Can We Talk,’ where local residents were invited to engage in discussions in a safe space to hear directly from their neighbors.
Dozens of young people joined the basketball pick-up game 5v5 challenge by Love Hoops NY on the courts in Brower Park.
The day was coordinated by Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, and funded by the NYCity Mayor’s Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes. The activities were joined by City Council Members Crystal Hudson and Rita Joseph.
