CROWN HEIGHTS — Police are looking for a woman who robbed a man inside his Bedford Avenue apartment while she was dressed as a Verizon worker Monday.
The woman showed up at 1597 Bedford Ave. around 9:30 a.m. dressed as a Verizon employee, complete with a badge, the victim told police. She said she could lower the man’s monthly bill if he showed her his previous Verizon statement from the month before.
When the man give her a copy of the bill, she sprayed him in the face with an unknown substance, snatched his wallet and fled on foot. Police said the woman then jumped into a dark colored Nissan sedan, which fled northbound on the avenue.
The male victim was uninjured in the assault.
Don’t use the phone number they give you which could be that of an accomplice. Rather call the number on your bill, which you know is authentic. And don’t open the door until the person has been checked out.
Dovid
Never open the door to anyone unless u expecting them and know their name!
When EVER some one comes to MY department (to maintain something that “I called for”) even I know he’s coming….I all ways ask for his I.D…..(And I usually give them a hard time)…..And if I don’t know that person I go to my manager….Its the safest way….
It matters if you want to have a description of the perp.
It does not matter what the color of the person skin was, nobody should have to be robbed in their own house
Was the worker a black or a white
DO NOT SHOW IT TO THEM! They will take your account number and sign you up whether you agree or not.
Ask them instead for a phone number they can call and their ID number for a referral…
