Close to 60 people attended an inspirational evening in Colorado Springs celebrating the chassidic holiday of Yud Tes Kislev, also known as the Rosh Hashana of Chassidus.
The annual gathering, held for the 9th year by Chabad of Southern Colorado, brought together members of the local Jewish community, as well as a group from the Denver Jews.
The first speaker was Head Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Meir Popack who delivered an excerpt of the very last Sicha of the Rebbe from 5752 on the significance of Yud Tes Kislev as a preparation to the coming of Moshiach.
The host, Rabbi Moishe Liberow, Director of Chabad of Southern Colorado, illustrated the need and vital contribution that Chassidus gives to our lives.
He spoke about the background to the precise timing of when Chassidus was revealed and explained its active role in bringing Jews together from all corners of the globe to grow in Yiddishkeit. “All what you know see today about Chabad is a direct result of Yud Tes Kislev,” he said.
Guest Speaker Rabbi Mendel Feller, a Chabad Shliach in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, shared beautiful insights and anecdotes of how the Rebbe took the goal of ‘Hafotas Hamayoinos’ to the level of enabling us to reach levels of complete self sacrifice.
“Sharing the message of Tanya is so relevant that many self-help books are already sharing ideas on joy and revealing inner happiness, straight from the Tanya,” Rabbi Feller said.
His talk was divided into five segments. After each segment, heart-rendering chassidic melodies were played by a group of musicians who inspire locals through their performances at Chabad several times a year.
Rabbi Feller shared fascinating details of the meeting his father Rabbi Moshe Feller had with Sandy Koufax, one of the greatest pitchers in baseball, back in 1965.
The senior Rabbi Feller offered him to put on Tefillin when he met the Jewish baseball player in his hotel room. “This was even before the launching of Mivtza Tefillin,” his son noted.
Everyone was encouraged to go and inspire more Yiden with performing Mitzvah and studying the daily Tanya.
Special thanks was given to Shlucha Zeldie Liberow for catering the festive dinner, the group of sponsors who contributed to the event and the dedicated volunteers for helping to its success.
