Update from YNS:
Chassidim around the globe prepare for Yud-Shevat, and within the doors of Yeshivas YNS it is no different. Between the daily Tanya Mivtza, to learning Basi Legani 5711, to learning it by heart, to a trip to the Ohel, to farbrenging into the early morning, the Bochurim prepared for the auspicious day.
Shortly after Yud-Tes Kislev, the shluchim of YNS put together a new mivtzah for the bochurim, to learn the day’s Tanya. But it wasn’t so simple; you had to learn it with a chavrusah then answer 3 daily questions on it, then take a test every two perakim. However it was worth it! Those who participated in it received prizes including, but not limited to, cash and a trip to an NBA basketball game.
Meanwhile, at Chassidus night seder, the classes began to learn the Ma’amer Basi Legani 5711 – the Rebbe’s first Ma’amer. As an extra hachonah for Yud-Shevat the shluchim split the bochurim up into different levels and offered cash for each S’eif learned by heart, and extra money for those that could do it all in one shot!
Right before Yud-Shevat the bochurim all boarded a bus to travel to the Ohel L’kavod YudShevat. After Ma’ariv, they all sat down to write their Panim. A few minutes later they slowly walked into the Ohel, each with their own prayers in their hearts and mind.
Finally, the night of Yud-Shevat arrived. Each bochur/shliach made their hachanos and was ready. The farbrengen began with HaTomim Simcha Teich saying over a summary of Basi Legani 5711 in English, followed by words of inspiration from Mr. Beirig of Young Israel of Margate, who joined that night along with his son-in-law Mr. Dave Schwartz.
We then watched a very moving video about the Rabbi O’s miracle story with the Rebbe. Following that we listened with open ears and hearts to guest speaker Rabbi Dovid Leib Grossbaum who told over stories of the Rebbe and words of encouragement.
The farbrengen lasted well into the night ending at 2:30 am with a small continuation for an hour in Rabbi ‘O’s office watching video clips of the Rebbe. It is safe to say that YNS had a very inspirational Yud-Shevat.
