Machon Smicha’s popular Chuppah v’Kiddushin course is set to begin again after Chanukah, featuring shiurim from Rabbis Yoram Ulman, Mordechai Farkash, Berel Bell, Moshe Kesselman, and others.
How exactly does one be a Mesader Kiddushin? May one officiate at a wedding where the reception is not kosher? What if the chuppah is indoors? How does one fill in the kesubah if one of the parents is non-Jewish? What if the bride insists on giving the groom a ring?
All these questions and more are explored and answered throughout Machon Smicha’s three-month Chuppah v’Kiddushin course, which offers shluchim, rabbonim, and baalei batim the opportunity to develop proficiency in the halachos and minhagim of officiating at a wedding.
Featuring popular Rabbonim and teachers, along with Machon Smicha’s unique Halachah curriculum, the course is once again set to be a great success.
Over the past 6 years, close to 350 people have taken the course, which culminates in a test and a certificate signed by the Chief Rabbi of Israel.
The course covers four primary topics: 1) Eidim – the halachos regarding the witnesses to a wedding, 2) Yuchsin – who may marry whom, and mamzerim and kohanim, 3) Kesubah – how to craft a kosher Kesubah, and 4) Siddur Kiddushin L’ma’aseh – the practical how-to of officiating at a wedding.
The course begins on 9 January 2025 (9 Teves 5785), and runs for three months until 6 April (8 Nissan).
