The 19 Chabad Houses in the borough of Queens in New York united to put together a very powerful and meaningful Gimel Tammuz event in the beautiful ballroom of Temple Torah – home of Chabad of Little Neck.
With the Rebbe’s Ohel resting place situated in Cambria Heights, it underscored the deep connection Queens Jewry feel with the Rebbe and Chabad. Hundreds of people were in attendance.
The theme of the evening was “The Rebbe’s Vision and Call to Action,” and a special video of the Rebbe was shown which addressed that idea.
The emcee for the evening pointed out how in the years since Gimel Tamuz, Chabad has grown in the Borough from 6 Chabad Houses to 19.
Prominent Queens Rabbi Moshe Taub representing the Queens Rabbinate, spoke of his deep connection to the Rebbe going back to his childhood in Toronto and the deep sense of loss he and friends felt as they drove in to New York from Lakewood on Gimel Tamuz 1994.
He also spoke of his work in Kashrus and how when he needed to give a Hechsher on a product from the Congo, he knew who to turn to – Chabad in Kinshasa, Congo.
Prominent Queens politician and friend of Chabad, David Weprin spoke warmly of his connection to Chabad going back to his days in College in Buffalo, NY.
Renowned speaker Rabbi YY Jacobson was the Keynote Speaker and he enthralled the crowd in his inimitable style with a deep appreciation of the Rebbe.
The evening was a tremendous success and a great Kiddush Lubavitch.
Such unity with a great keynote speaker. Very impressive.
In Queens and around the world we love Rabbi Hecht. He knows how to convey his ideas gently, in a pleasant manner, and with a great love of the Jewish people. He is a man whose wisdom is exceeded only by his humility.
I am proud to post this .God bless him!
