Hundreds were in attendance at a grand Sefer Torah completion ceremony this week in Kiryat Malachi, Israel.
The Torah was dedicated by Crown Heights entrepreneur and businessman Itzik Benabou, in memory of his father in law, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Ladaev obm.
Hundreds of people attended the completion ceremony. The event took place in the Ladaev home, with the Sofer Rabbi Gershon Chaimson finishing the final letters.
During the event, 700 children joined for a rally with pesukim, after which they enjoyed a concert and entertainment.
The Torah was then led in the streets with music and dancing, to the main Shul of Kiryat Malachi, where festive hakafos were held, “with so much joy it had the feeling of Simchas Torah,” an attendee said.
After 2 hours of dancing accompanied by musician Leibele Lipsker and singer Simcha Friedman, the crowd joined for a festive meal.
About 350 people attended the Seudas Mitzvah held in a local banquet hall, with music and entertainment.
In attendance were the Mayor, Mr. Eliyahu Zohar, Rabbis and community leaders.
Rabbi Mishulovin, who knew Rabbi Yosef Ladaev for many years since their days of living in Samarkand, told about his work and dedication to helping so many Jewish people become closer to Torah and Judaism.
