After a long journey comprising of a flight from New York to Milwaukee, followed by a 4-hour bus ride, the new group of “Talmidim Shluchim” arrived in Postville, Iowa, for the coming school year.
The group of 8 bochurim will be spending the year at Yeshivas Beis Shalom in Postville, learning with the students and organizing Seder Sichos, Farbrengens, Mivtzoim, Mivtzahs, Shabbatons, Moshiach Shiurim, Rambam club, and other initiatives to enhance their year.
Members of the group are Betzalel Chaikin, Laibel Shemtov, Chilik Holtzman, Yossi Plotke, Yosef Chaim Singer, Yisroel Uzvolk, Shmuli Taichman and Yekusiel Cohen.
They are asking the Chabad community to assist them in raising the funds necessary for their projects. They said that since the raid on the Agriprocessors kosher meat plant owned by the Rubashkin family, the town has experienced an economic downturn.
“In the aftermath of the raid 12 years ago, the Postville Yeshiva is not as self-sufficient as it once was,” one of the bochurim told COLlive.com.
“The Shluchim of 5780 have big goals for this year to help the Bochurim of Yeshivas Beis Shalom of Postville Mesivta and Zal discover true Chassidishkeit and fulfillment in living a life of a Torah committed Jew and being a chossid of the Rebbe,” the motivated group said.
“Please help us accomplish this,” they said. “Please help us with any contribution possible.”
