Lubavitch bochurim in London will be spared from a major global crackdown on foreign student visas to the United Kingdom.
The British Council has, for the first time, brought together countries including the U.S. and Australia to try to keep out overseas students with dishonest documents.
It is a problem that raises concerns about illegal immigration and the possibility of people with terrorist intentions coming into the country, the BBC reported.
Rogue agents are accused of falsifying documents and helping people to get around the student visa system, the rules of which immigration authorities in the UK have tried to tighten.
Excused from the fraud clampdown is the 30 year-old institution Yeshiva Gedolah Lubavitch located in Golders Green and headed by Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Hertz.
“We are pleased to announce that we are the first Yeshiva in the UK to be granted a license by the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA),” a Yeshiva official told COLlive.com.
He said they will be able “to sponsor students for study at the Yeshiva.”
This will now enable all international students to be legally accepted into the Yeshiva with a visa from the UKBA, he noted.
10 yrs ago i was in yeshiva in london i had the best time ever, we learnt, we had fun, we were inspired. and its all thanx rabbi gordon and rabbi herts and the vogel familly!!!!!!!!! i was so happy to here this awesome news!!!!! i am soooo gonnna send my kids there. GO GO GO…………………….
his name is avrom weisz not sholom weiss, unless your alking about weiss from Manchester but i didnt know he had anything to do with the Yeshiva in London.
For the sake of giving credit where credit is due, Reb Bentzion Rader and Reb Sholom Weiss were in constant contact with Rabbi Moshe Meir Gluckowsky of the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva of 770 who was able to forward them vital documents of accreditation which enabled them to proceed in this important process.
This was not a one man effort. I had the zechus to co-ordinate a great team who worked tirelessly to achieve accreditation and the UKBA sponsorship. They included Avram Weisz, whose imput into the Yeshiva over the years has been invaluable, Akiva Fehler, Yosef Vogel and others. The real stars were Rabbi Hertz, Rabbi Gordon and their team of teachers and the bochurim themselves, It was they who impressed the Inspectors of the high standard of learning at the Yeshiva and .the care it lavished on the students. This is what gained the high rating given to it by the… Read more »

Zayday you did it again at least now i know were i get it from!!
Lots of love!
It was all part of the magic in the yeshiva. Nothing wrong with having a park behind the Yeshiva to stroll or in fact play in during lunch break!!!
As someone said just this past Friday night: Say what you want about London, but anyone who has spent time in the Yeshiva here – always remembers it. The impact lingers eternal!”
The hatzlocho Mr. Rader has in proving to the authorities
that Lubavitch is good, correct and great , is because
Mr. Rader believes, and has always believed it himself
Mr. Rader has true apprecieation of \Lubavitch.
Hatzlocho for the future and good health

Rabbi Gordon continues to be an inspiration to me even after 15 or so years!
Woo hoo! i heard they have your picture next to awesome in the dictionary!
Good going.
To rabbi gordon, Mr Rader and i guess Rabbi Hertz
If it is indeed Mr Rader that made this a reality, it just adds to his huge list of accomplishments he has for the Lubavitch communities- including, writing books and being the representative for chabad by numerous world leaders!
Shimmy Weinbaum’s abilities to get things done comes from his grandfather Reb Rader! Bentzion, all the future Bochurim that will gain from London and Rabbi Gordon, thank you!
The man known as Zayda Rader not only to his amazing grandkids is the man who gets all the credit! Yasher Koach! You should have many more gezuntah yoren with your lovely wife… celebrating many Simchas!
Thank you to Mr Bentzion Rader for all his efforts on behalf of the Yeshivah.
May you receive much Nachas from the bochurim who benefit from your work.
You’re the best
Meanwhile, the UK lets in every piece of garbage from Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, & other third world eastern European countries. But our Bochrum are terrorists, right? For cryin’ out loud, get your priorities right!
is he the guy with the cane or with out the cane
Indeed, why no mention of Zaide Rader?
its all to your credit!
