Crown Heights thoroughfare Empire Boulevard will be closed off Wednesday evening through Thursday morning for roadway construction.
No parking will be allowed on Empire Boulevard between Nostrand Avenue to Troy Avenue from 8 PM. Closures will be in effect from Wednesday evening around 12 AM until 5:00 AM Thursday.
No parking is allowed on those streets during that time, and cars will begin to be towed at about 8 PM, the DOT informed. The construction will begin a few hours later, they said.
The DOT also informed that while they will try to complete the work on Wednesday night, the same closures may apply on Thursday night as well, if the work isn’t completed on Wednesday.
Residents were only informed about the closure and tow-away zone late on Tuesday night, they said.
“The short notice makes it incredibly difficult for the community,” a member of the Community Board 9 told COLlive. “They should be giving the community at least 72 hours’ notice, as is the standard practice across the city,” they said. “It is unacceptable that this continues to happen in Crown Heights, as it is not the first time we have received complaints about this.”

Our askonim should send packages of kugel to the mayor and the traffic commissioner. And then invite the over for lechaim. Then this sort of thing won’t happen anymore.🤣
Every time they do this they shut down the cross streets as well causing nightmares FOR NO REASON
amazing how we are trashed over and over, besides the point if I recall the streets was just redone recently have they not? Why are we needing it to be repaved again so soon and make such balagan of our schuna? Embarrassing to even say we live in NY, let alone ch.
Signed, soon moving to TX and can’t wait.
The more cars drive on a road, the more it wears down
Does this mean there’ll be construction going on all night 😬?
Ugh! The streets are so beat up!
