The Shluchim to Zaparozia, Ukraine, who escaped from the country amidst the violent Russian attacks, finally arrived in Israel on Friday after a long and dangerous journey.
Rabbi Nochum and Dina Ehrentroi had been assisting their community, offering shelter in their home and Chabad Center, when the attacks started.
Soon, the situation became too dangerous, and they were forced to flee with their children.
Rabbi Ehrentroi’s life had been in grave danger in the past few days, having been nearly killed for being suspected as a Chechen spy, and with the arrival of 300 Chechen soldiers in their city.
The Ehrentrois fled just as the nuclear reactor in Zaparozia was seized by the Russians, crammed into a train car for 300 people with 700 others, he described.
After a 70 hour journey through a number of countries, they finally arrived in Kfar Chabad, Israel just a few hours before Shabbos, and were greeted by their emotional family.
The Shluchim have left behind their entire life that they built over the past 25 years. An entire community and all their possessions, except for the bare necessities, left behind.
Help them now as they begin to rebuild their lives.
