Double Pidyon Haben in Ilford

Rabbi Aryeh Sufrin and Rabbi Odom Brandman, who is a kohen, officiated at the Pidyon Haben of Jacob Miller at Chabad of Ilford Essex, UK on the eve of Yud Beis Tammuz.

Before the ceremony they discovered that the father of the baby, Mark, had never had his own Pidyon Haben, as confirmed by his mother Malkah Miller, who was present.

So the opportunity was taken and Rabbi Sufrin became the Shliach, thereby reciting the bracha “al Pidyon Haben” for first time himself, as he could not make the bracha within his own family.

So, a double Simcha was celebrated, and the family present all put on Tefilin to mark the occasion.
