Is Charlie Buttons, a familiar yet mysterious character in Crown Heights, enough of a celebrity to drive e-commerce sales of his memorabilia?

Up for sale on online auction and shopping website eBay.com is a pair of “Charlie Buttons overalls.”
The seller “shrag123” of New York, NY, claims “these overalls have been worn by Charlie Buttons himself for several years.”
He added that “Charlie is willing to sell them to the highest bidder. Charlie owns them and I am selling them for him.”
Tagged as Item number 300389069249, the current bid is $0.99 and $7.70 is the standard flat rate shipping service. The bidding ends Jan 27, 2010, 16:00:42 PST.
Charlie, his last name unknown, has been hanging out in 770 Lubavitch Headquarters for years, even meriting to have interaction with the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Said to have worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Charlie is seen at almost every L’Chaim engagement party and wedding (as evident from COLlive Simcha galleries).
A Facebook page under his name with some 1,295 friends can be an indicative to his celebrity status within Lubavitch.

I heard charlie himself say on Yud Shevat that he would be selling overalls on E-Bay, but I didn’t take him seriously until i saw this post, and I’m saddenned i didn’t make a bid :o(
