By Chaya Hirsch
Dear Shalom Mordechai & the wonderful Rubashkin family,
Many years ago on a cold dark blistery Russian night, czarist officers arrested a Yid to be hung. They felt he had done something wrong, and they were also in the mood of a good show.
His friend, a teacher, heard the devastating news and was very distressed. He hurried to the town square to try and save him.
Running breathlessly to the podium, he saw the ropes about to tighten around his friend’s neck, amidst the cheering of the crowd.
Before anyone could stop him he quietly slipped the rope off his friend, gently placing it around his own neck to spare his friend from death.
Shalom Mordechai, we know you are going through such a stressful court case.
From the little news that leaks out of the courthouse and posted on COLlive, we realize the extent of the animosity shown by the prosecution, and the anti-semitism that you face.
We are inspired by you and your family’s unwavering Emunah and Bitachon in Hashem. We Chassidim want you to know that we care. We are your brothers and your pain is our pain.
We are all one family. Although we didn’t make it to Sioux Falls to give you chizzuk in this trying time, we were with you in spirit, in our thoughts, and, most of all, in our Tefillos.
Today, Monday, 10AM EST, the trial comes to an end when the prosecutor and the defense will present final arguments and the Judge will charge the Jury.
Following the mass text messages and emails that have been sent out, we’d like to hereby “take the rope” in your court case by taking upon ourselves individual hachlatos in the merit of your victory.
Lets foil the prosecution with adding in Ruchnius: learn Torah, give Tzedakah and say Tehillim for Sholom Mordechai HaLevi ben Rivkah. (Some in Postville are fasting a half of Monday and Tuesday.)
This will surely make a big tumult in Shamayim, begging Hashem and the Bais Din Shel Ma’alah to continue to send you Nissim gluyim. In the merit of our Achdus and sincere Hachlatos, may Hashem free us all from the bitter ropes of Golus and send Moshiach NOW!
Sincerely,
Your extended Lubavitch family
Hashem is the Chief in command, and the geulah will still come!
Sholom and leah keep holding strong, Hashem is very creative and will amaze all of Klal Ysrael with the amazing turn around and Geulah for Hachasid Sholom Mordechai Halevi Ben Rivkah.
i want to make a hachlata, but i have to decide between all the ideas that have been posted…. im going to try to say shma and birchos hashachar from asiddur!!
this may sound crazy, but we live in crazy times, as this trial is pointing out so glaringly. In parshas Saitzaih, the Rebbe said, we’ve shed tears and said Tehilim endlessly, now try this tactic: simcha b’taharasa. Try it and you’ll see. Those are the Rebbe’s words. Don’t wait for Didan Natzach. Now! and then, it will become “parshas ki Saitzaih for real. Also, ki b’simcha saitzaiyun – same idea. Let’s see the reports of dancing on this website (like in the airport lounges when shluchim would leave)

I will make sure to be extra patient and kind to those close to me…
I heard that saying tehillim for the day of the week brings yeshua. I said the whole Yom Chamishi today. Waiting to hear amazing news!
We love you very much and cant wait to dance with you by the victory
ps keep up the amazing good spirit
so:
eating in moderation
thinking positively (thereby reducing anger)
having a seder of learning sleeping
cutting out addictive foods: cake mainly
being in the here and now (not living in the past/future)
seeing the good in everyone
more sederdik with davening and chitas
more careful with myser and tzedakah
It is interesting to note, that new kapitel for the Rebbe RaSHaB as of this past shabbos – chof chesvon, is 150!
I’m going to say Kriayas Shema from a Siddur hoping for his verdict to be an amazing victory!!!
Please notify that the Rebbe has recommended regarding saying Tehillim, to conclude with kapitel(chapter) 150.
May we hear only good news.

MAY HE NOT GET EVEN GET THE SMALLEST FINE. and in the zchus of all his good and our tefillos be (like you said) completely vindicated from all his alleged actions.
This was so stunningly written!
I am going to try to have a lot more Kavanah in davening.
i will say tanya everyday this week before davening
i would like to take upon myself to say birchas hashachar from the siddur every morning instead of just rushing to school and skipping half the words.
Will IYH learn Inyonei Geulah and Moshiach with my family to hasten the Geulah shleimah and the personal Geulah of Sholom Mordechai.
Halevi more parents would learn with their sons and nephews gemara!
I will have more Ahavas Yisrael. Let’s all make a Hachlata together to post only good things about Klal Yisrael on this website or any other website.
What an amazing article! So well written! I will take a hachlata to say brachos from a siddur in the merit of the Rubashkins ( as someone suggested above) .
I know myself, when i make a Hachlata, it fizzles away. I therefore want to make a hachlata for the short term, that i will refraine from speaking anything bad about another Yid!
hi meir and mendel
I will have more bitachon and give tzeddakah lizchuso
the point of the story was the fact that we as Rabbi Rubashkins fellow chassidim are hurting as well and care.
I said tehillim today and make a hachlata to give extra tzedaka every day.
I am going to try be stricter with Davening Shacharis too!
Will try to daven in a minyan shacharis, mincha and maariv

Look how many comments there are already of people taking on Hachlatos! This is so inspiring! So many Yidden are willing to take upon themselves Hachlatos for a Yid in need! HASHEM- Kuk oif dein kinderlach!!
On behalf of this save S.M. Rubashkin- and make a big Kiddush Hashem!
What a beautiful heartfelt letter!
We’ll take on a hachlata to say Birchas Hashachar from a Siddur (even when in a rush to get out of the house in the morning!) It should be for his Zechus!
Thanks for this beautiful letter.
I will try my utmost to have more bitachon, especially when things get tough.
Its one of the lessons that I have learned from the Rubashkins, the way they have been so strong in their emunah during this ordeal, was very inspiring to witness.
This is so moving!
Throughout this ordeal, I was so unsure of how to help… now, you’re giving me a concrete way to “take the rope” to truly help this amazing family!
My Hachlata is adding Bitachon and Simcha.
And of course, keeping in mind the vort that Mrs. Rubashkin made famous – Aleph Bais Gimmel = Emunah, Bitachon, Geulah – to keep the imminent Geulah in the equation as I do this!
May we immediately have your freedom to celebrate – and the ultimate Geulah that you’ve been keeping us inspired about!
I will have more bitachon and give tzeddakah lizchuso
I will start saying Krias Shema at night from a siddur, Hashem should help them!
Thanks for this inspiring article… I’m going to give Tzeddaka 3 times a day.
I have been saying tehillim in honor of Shalom Mordechai’s complete vindication of his alleged actions. It is innappropriate to compare this case to czarist Russia. The American judicial system is one of the best in the world and a fullfilment of a Ben Noach mitzva. By making this sort of comparisons it lends legitimacy to all those that try and faneigl the system (vh’mavin yovin). May the judge and jury see this for what it is; a business that was run unproffessionly where mistakes were made without criminal intent and may Shalom Mordechai be treated accordinagle (i.e. small fines… Read more »
I will have more Bitachon in my daily life, inspired by the Rubashkins amazing Bitachon!!

Thank you for posting this, it reflects my sentiments exactly. I too, wanted to go out to Sioux Falls to show my support to Sholom Mordechai and his amazing wife and family, but my present circumstances made it impossible.
Our hearts, minds and prayers are with this Ish chesed vtov, Sholom Mordechai.
We should all give extra tzedaka l’zchus Sholom Mordechai
that is what he is known for and will surely bring a geulah shlaima now! Didan Notzach!
What a beautiful idea!!!!

What a heartfelt letter…beautiful
