To achieve this, Israel needs: 1) A much more Jewish High Court, not one that will rule to allow the Arabs to convert the country into theirs, and 2) A stronger Jewish majority.
Both are achievable and will B”H happen. But it will take time and there will be setbacks first. David Friedman seems a bit naive to me. There are challenges. There is serious work to do to achieve these things. But it will be a fulfilment of dreams for the Jewish people.
The only objection I have to Friedman’s presentations on this subject, is that I’ve heard him talk about a desire to do what is better for the Arab residents of Judea and Samaria, that he wants to “empower” them etc. After the terrorism of this year and their stratospheric support for it (upwards of 80%), I no longer have any illusions about them. While I have met some nice ones in Jerusalem, I am skeptical that the majority can live with us in peace. I wish for them to go to the Arab world, and leave us. Many will murder… Read more »
While I have not read Mr. Friedman’s book, I would like to comment on Chanale’s interview with him. To begin with: there is no Palestinian People – not in Judea and Samaria and not in Gaza. The Arabs who live there are either the descendants of Arabs who lived under the Ottoman Empire’s rule or whose great-grandparents moved into the area before 1948 to reap the benefits of Jewish development. In Gaza, much of the Arab population is Egyptian in origin. Identifying as Palestinian is identifying with the PLO/PA/Hamas conglomerate in one form or another. The vast majority of Gaza’s… Read more »
Mrs. Adelstein, Thank you for all you do for the defense of our land. It is an honor to talk, even in this faceless online format, with someone who is so dedicated to this marvelous cause. PM Netanyahu did not want to push a deal to create a Palestinian state. He was actually an “obstacle” to it, and very much so last year. The current administration had to relent, after a lot of pressure, to accepting only the most symbolic “gestures” on that from the Israeli government. The most I recall being discussed, and granted I was bothered by it… Read more »
Actions speak louder than words. Less talk, more maaseh. And, too many times even Netanyahu’s words and actions and those of his fellow ministers send mixed message out leaving everyone shaking their heads in either confusion or derision. When the message and the stance is so convoluted, it invites pressure to make foolish and dangerous concessions and it invites anti-Semitism which, becasue of Israeli wishy-washy land and security for peace concessions, has been let out of the cage in every echelon of society, r”l. Finally, as much as Jews are incredibly resilient, setting people up for never-ending rounds of terror,… Read more »
You know your facts, and you also know many things more than I do on this subject. I have one comment/addendum however and one request that I am sure you will agree to. The comment is, it seems you imply that Gaza Arabs are more supportive of Hamas than Judea and Samaria Arabs. They both seem to be, but these days it is far more so in Judea and Samaria, according to the Palestinian polls. The request, in keeping with what you said in the beginning of your remarks, is not to refer to some country called “Palestine.” Please don’t… Read more »
I don’t like how he’s planning on achieving this through giving Palestinians citizenship and their own government sounds very dangerous!
