By a grateful parent
Living here in Crown Heights, my family and I have been part of a close-knit community that values Chassidishkeit, Yiddishkeit and of course, Chinuch. But like any community, we’ve faced challenges, one of which was the absence of a reliable physical outlet for our children. Living in a tight Brooklyn living space, enduring long winters indoors were proving very detrimental to my kids’ mental health. The Crown Heights Sports Program, however, has been a game-changer for my kids and especially my son, Yossi. CHS brings him not only happiness and success but also some unexpected health benefits.
What sets this program apart is the professionalism and dedication of its coaches. They’ve not only honed my son’s athletic abilities but have also become mentors and role models. CHS handpicks only the happiest, most positive energy and invested coaches for each program. There’s something about my son admiring his super-cool coach, who can score every single shot, proudly wearing Tzitzis and a Yarmulka. I think it has even more of an effect than teachers and Rabbi’s etc. to have such role models in his life. I thank CHS for that. Their kindness and support have boosted Yossi’s self-esteem, making him shine not only on the field but also in his studies and his relationships with his siblings.
As a member of the Chabad community, Yossi has always felt at home in this program. It’s a welcoming and inclusive place for kids of all backgrounds and skill levels. This inclusivity fosters a sense of unity, teaching our children valuable life lessons like teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
But what truly surprised me were the health benefits. Regular physical activity has done wonders for both kids. Mendel specifically is more active, energetic, and focused. On days following his sports session, he not only performs better in school but also gets along with his siblings more harmoniously. I witness this phenomenon weekly and with my daughter as well, who also enjoys her weekly soccer games at CHS. It’s as if the program has brought an added dose of positivity to our home.
In conclusion, the Crown Heights Sports Program has been a tremendous blessing for my son and our family. It’s not just about sports; it’s about fostering personal success, growth, and Ahavas Yisrael. I am deeply grateful for the impact it has had on my kids’ lives, and I look forward to seeing them continue to thrive through this program.
Crown Heights Sports has opened its doors to a 5th season starting after Tishrei. The program has expanded due to demand and are growing into additional other programs besides just basketball and soccer for both girls and boys.
(My toddler will now finally have an age-appropriate sports outlet l can rely on, my pediatrician was just recommending it for him!)

i wish I would have had something like this
Whoever wrote this did a great job, I just think they forgot a big idea here, Dovid and his wife are really at the heartbeat of this program. I’ve seen programs happen like this before, i’m sure they mean well but they are all money hungry without highlighting the right intentions. It’s not every day you have people running a program with 200 kids knowing your child’s name, having an inside joke with them and definitely saying a huge hello to them from across the street. It’s so clear that they want the kids to succeed and really want the… Read more »
Great program bH
Why isn’t something like this integrated in the schools. Gr8 idea tho kids need this stuff so they don’t hit the ceiling over and over again
It’s not fair that kids in crown heights are expected to perform so well without having a physical outlet. In every other community the schools have programs like this or at the very least most homes have a yard for kids to play in.
WE NEEDED THIS IN CROWN HEIGHTS SIGN YOUR KID UP QUICK FOR REAL THEY WILL TURN YOU DOWN IF THE GROUP IS FULL- THIS PROGRAM IS QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY

dovid lew taught my son in Darchei Menachem, very nice people you can tell they care about the kids having fun
We love CHS!!
Our kid loves going!!
Why don’t the schools have these programs? Why can’t beis rivkah for example have a basketball league? Kids need this!
I think it’s a good idea too, problem is that not all the kids enjoy that specific sport. I like this setup better since it gives the opportunity for each child to zone in on the one sport they feel successful at.
Kol Hakavod to the leaders of this program!
