Leaders of Crown Heights Shuls gathered for an event at House of Glatt this week, raising awareness of Bonei Olam and their pivotal work in the community.
The event was hosted by the Bonei Olam Chabad newly formed men’s committee: Zalman Katz, Mendy Dubrawsky, Sholom Vogel and Shmulie Hecht, and served to inform and educate about the work of Bonei Olam ahead of its annual men’s Kumzitz event next week.
Rabbi Shlomo Bochner, founder and director of Bonei Olam, delivered remarks giving a deeper understanding of what Bonei Olam is all about, and how it specifically services the greater Crown Heights Chabad community. A short video was presented as well.
The event for Shul leadership members was the first initiative of the Men’s Committee, which is working to raise awareness of Bonei Olam and its services to many in the Chabad community and Shluchim around the world.
Organizers told COLlive.com that it took a lot of effort reaching out to representatives from all the different shuls, but Boruch Hashem, the work paid off and there was a great turnout.
“Many of the fundraising events that take place in Crown Heights seem to only attract a certain demographic or age group,” said Shmulie Hecht, a Crown Heights resident. “We strongly believe that Bonei Olam’s work benefits everyone across the board and therefore want the main men’s event to have representation from all.”
On August 4, Bonei Olam Chabad will launch its Give for Gratitude campaign, a $1.3 million effort to continue providing these vital services to families in our own community.
