The much-publicized Chosen Business Conference held in the Razag Ballroom this past Sunday was a resounding success, attracting 70 B2B service businesses and over 450 attendees, making it the largest business conference in Crown Heights history.
Organized by Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE) in partnership with COLlive.com, hundreds of entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals networked among the numerous booths, which were set up around the room representing a wide spectrum of local B2B service companies.
The event also featured keynote speakers and an award show honoring local business leaders in recognition of their service to the community and the positive impact they have made. All of the attendees walked away with new connections, many of them expressing their heartfelt gratitude and inspiration upon witnessing the vast opportunities and resources available to them in the community.
“It’s really nice to see all these different businesses in the community come together in one place,” said Mush Kanner, Brand Designer of Kanner.co, who was present with her husband, Yossi. “Even though we’re familiar with many of the brands and businesses in this room, it’s great to be able to come together and get to know one another better. Simply by being at an event like this, we are able to make new connections. It’s also a great reminder of the many great businesses right here in Crown Heights, which is something I can keep in mind the next time I need them or to recommend to a friend in need of their services.”
Yehuda Hurwitz, accounting manager of Helix Reports, a SAAS product that helps companies consolidate and run their financial reports said they saw the event as a unique opportunity to present their product and discover what other local vendors have to offer. “The networking aspect is without question the best part about this [conference],” Hurwitz said. “There’s a lot of people I know here by face, but I didn’t know much about their businesses. This gives you a chance to talk and get to know more about what they do.”
“I think it’s great that people see how much is available here and that one who wishes to support the local business community need not compromise on quality,” said Avi Webb, owner of Avi Webb Copywriting. “The Crown Heights business community has grown and matured tremendously over the years. As you can see from all the talent in this room, you can find anything you need right here in the community from recruiters to marketers to software developers as well top lawyers and accountants, and others in the professions.”
“It’s amazing to witness so many people in the [Crown Heights business] community who want to give their all to help it grow,” said Bina Badkin of Bina Healing Arts.
“I came to [the conference] to learn more about all the different businesses in Crown Heights, make connections, and discover what new things are available that might be of help to my business,” said Sarede Switzer, owner of Bring the Gym to Me, a fitness business based in Crown Heights. “I think it’s a great thing to support local businesses. If you need something or need to hire someone, it’s good to know that there is so much opportunity available right here in the community. Before going outside, consider looking in Crown Heights first, because there is a lot here.”
“I think [this conference] is a very nice initiative and a fantastic opportunity for businesses in Crown Heights to network,” said Mendel Krasnianski, president of OS Solutions, a local company that finds and trains talent for small businesses. “The fact that there were people present from such a wide variety of different businesses and sectors, like lawyers, architecture firms, and accountants made it easy for everyone to connect and possibly work together.”
There was a broad consensus from all the attendees I spoke to that Crown Heights needs more events like the Chosen Business Conference. Events like the Chosen Business Conference encourage people in Crown Heights to patronize local businesses and hire from within the community.
