A letter from the Crown Heights Beis Din, signed by Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yosef Braun, condemns the “destructive and terrorizing acts at 770…following the arrogant behavior of certain individuals for a prolonged period of time.”
The following is a free translation:
We hereby once again condemn the destructive and terrorizing acts at 770 that occurred yesterday, following the arrogant behavior of certain individuals for a prolonged period of time.
Certainly, such actions are unacceptable among Yidden in general and Chabad Chassidim in particular. No argument can justify such severe acts, and plainly, they do not represent the beliefs and ways of Chabad Chasidim, who are faithful to the words and ways of our Rabbeim.
In the words of the Rebbe: “There is no terror brigade in the Lubavitcher community.”
“If someone is affiliated with the Lubavitcher community and the Lubavitcher sector, along with all the titles and honors – it is inconceivable for them to engage in actions that are not in accordance with the Shulchan Aruch, let alone contrary to its principles.”
“If an individual within Lubavitch engages in actions contrary to or not in accordance with the Shulchan Aruch, they are in conflict not only with Lubavitch but also with me [the Rebbe], My father in-law [the Frierdiker Rebbe], Rebbe Rashab, the Alter Rebbe, the Ba’al Shem Tov, and even with the Almighty G-d Himself.”
We once again call upon all authorities, whether on behalf of the building management, the Shul, or the Yeshiva, to use all possible means (according to the Shulchan Aruch and Lehavdil the laws of the country) to eradicate such phenomenon completely and restore the honor of Beis Hakneses, Beis Hamedrish and Beis Maasim Tovim “Beis Rabeinu Shebibovel.”
May we merit the fulfillment of prophetic promise: “I will remove the spirit of impurity from the earth” and “Future synagogues and study halls in Babylon will be established in the land of Israel and connected to the Beis Hamikdosh,” with the coming of the true and ultimate Redemption led by Moshiach Tzidkeinu, May this take place in the near future, with joy and gladness of heart.

Since the Kingston side was dedicated for the use of bochurim, it was clear that the women are no longer a priority. The beautiful remodeling is now broken, the walls and benches are black and dirty. It feels worse than before it was ever redone and I feel less comfortable walking in to daven. But as long has there is a place for bochurim, the women don’t matter, right?
Truly disgusting, the fact that people support and defend or even attempt to justify literal vandalism and claim “this will bring Moshiach” is beyond delusional.
There is a 0% chance the Rebbe would support breaking and destroying 770, send these clowns back where they came from and let them fight Chamas with the same energy, no words, just unbelievably sickening.

Notice the gabboim said not 1 word. They have been threatened for years by the tzfatim. Thats why nothing has been done no matter what these bochurim did. One year on pesach seder 1st night they vandalized 770. It was known who did it by cameras. Nothing was done other than a rabbi trying to get them to admit it and do tshuva. So what do you expect. Something needs to change. This just boiled over this time but this sort of behavior has been going on for years. It’s time for new gabboim who are willing to take a stronger stance to prevent things like this.

When the building was 1st enlarged, if that space had been there and could have been used easily i am sure it would have been used.

I have no words what an embarrassment this is on our community on so many levels. There is NO excuse for damaging property kol v’chomer 770. This damage could has v’shalom lead to a serious breach in the integrity of the building putting people at risk and who knows how long it will be until it is repaired properly in which case it may have to be closed. I woke up this am and am so disheartened to see this story in at least 40 publications all over the world. At a time when antisemitism is on the rise, can we please get it together people. Now looking back over time – this is just a progression of adding yechi signs on that walls of 770. Small tweaks to how a chossid behaves ends up in massive issues down the road. Time to clean up 770 and return it to its glory.
