A group of Crown Heights community leaders and residents gathered to meet with Borough President Eric Adams Tuesday to discuss his run for Mayor of New York City.
The event was emceed by Shmuel Light. The meeting opened up with a few remarks by the host.
Afterwards Yaacov Berhman was introduced. Yaacov stressed that, “Eric has not only been a friend and strong advocate for our community, but that Eric has always stood with our community in the good and the bad times. Eric hosted numerous Menorah lightings, and other meetings and events both as a State Senator and as Borough President.”
Avi Lesches introduced Eric, but before doing so he highlighted for Eric the cross diversity and unity that was in the room tonight.
Business leaders, faith leaders, community leaders and residents were all gathered to not only meet and share with Eric their concerns, but to hear from him as well what his plans are should he be elected Mayor.
Eric thanked the group for coming together, and for really taking the time to meet with him and for their support. Eric discussed his long history and relationship with the frum community. He mentioned that wherever he goes folks ask where Crown Heights is in terms of this race.
“Crown Heights is the linchpin, that once they go, the rest fall like dominos,” Adams said.
He ended by saying that the Rebbe would be proud of us because we as a group are doing what is right by us and not by anyone else.
Chanina Sperlin was then asked to say some closing remarks. “The Jewish community citywide will be very lucky to have someone like Eric as mayor. Yes, over the years the community and Eric may have disagreed, but nevertheless we still found ways to come together for the benefit of the community,” Sperlin said.
The group met afterwards, and agreed that Eric is the candidate that our community should be supporting and voting for on election day.
“It is important that Crown Heights send a message that we stand and are loyal to our friends,” said Yaacov Berhman. “Tonight the Crown Heights Jewish community is proud to endorse Eric Adams to be the next mayor.”
A Fontas/Core Decision poll out on Wednesday found that Adams leads the field by five points with 18 percent of the vote. And a WPIX/Emerson poll out yesterday has Eric statistically tied for the lead. Adams has also consistently led other polls recently as more New Yorkers make their decisions ahead of the June 22 primary.
“Eric Adams’ message to New Yorkers is clearly resonating and the polls are reflecting that,” Adams spokesperson Evan Thies said. “The more New Yorkers learn about Eric, the more they trust him to deliver a safer, fairer, healthier, more prosperous city.”

please correct me if i’m wrong, but doesn’t yang seem better forus?
Why no mention of second and third choice? there is Ranked voting!
Those that want to hurt our Yeshivos are using the new Ranked voting system to consolidate their vote. Why don’t we?
Why would they endorse a candidate that refused to support Israel and deleted his tweet? Andrew Yang is a much better option
the biggest problem during de blasio years was crime and identity poloticts and caving into social pressure
not economics or enething else
eric adams is running on the pro cop platform
yang is flip flopping by everything to be politicly correct so he will anything will when it come to pressure
yes a lot of people like his economic polices but that is not the only thing to consider
watch tucker Carlson the best journalist of fox news what he has to say
Is against bris Mila and you’re ok with that?
he is against mitzitza bepe not bris mila
Read his comments to Arabs in Brooklyn…he told them he supported Hamas…why would any Jew support him?
he pro isreal tweets who ever is telling you otherwise has a agenda
Are there any members of the “elected” vaad hakohol active at all in CH issues? Don’t hear any of their names being mentioned.
Also, Williamsburg (Satmar) community announced their support for a different candidate (Andrew Yang) based on their support for Yeshivos. Do we know which issues Eric stands for and why we support him?
Not saying this is wrong, just would like the discussion to be about the issues, not platitudes about “standing together”.
he is advocating against crime pro cop we is more nedded for new york city
do not forget Williamsburg endorsed bill de Blasio that is why we are so screwed now
Why were no women at this meet and greet? We comprise at least 50 percent of this community.
My thoughts exactly.
If you are a woman and you want to get involved, than get involved! Reach out to Yaakov Behrman or one of the others mentioned in the article and start making a difference!
because boys should not be talking to girls unless married.
Yang for Mayor. He is the only one who is really strong on Israel and opposing Jew hatred.
Eric Adam’s deleted his tweet supporting Israel. He can’t stand up for us.
Here’s Eric Adams tweet
Today on Yom Yerushalayim, Israel came under attack from Hamas-fired rockets in Gaza. Israelis live under the constant threat of terrorism and war and New York City’s bond with Israel remains unbreakable. I stand shoulder to shoulder with the people Israel at this time of crisis.
And who cares who they endorse ? They. Certainly have a successful track record ..
Adams or Yang?
Yang. Adams is anti Israel
just dont vote and leave it to hashem
why is the only issue yeshivos when crime spikes in the streets and Eric Adams is advocating law and order
why is rudy gulianni considered the best mayor it is not for helping the yeshivos it is because of law and order
I don’t trust him, and neither should you. He has a history of backtracking and flipping and that is not how a leader behaves.
they all do it. It’s all about agenda. Once they are elected they forget these little meet and greet. It always astonishes me how these “community leaders” decide who we should vote for as a community. i remember a similar little gathering with de blasio. hmm?
no one decides for you who to vote. you get to vote for whoever you want, regardless of “leaders'” backings.
if the jewish community satmar bp and ch all went with curtis sliwa he would have a real chance and we would have someone who actually would work to protect us
instead we sell our souls for a promise that yeshivas will be untouched but i will support palestinians hams and we will see about security
yep sell outs all who went
She is the most experienced
He deserves our support! He’s been around for many years as a cop, a senator, borough president — He’s really the best for our community
Whenever I see these activists throw their support behind a candidate. I know 3 things.
1) this has nothing to do with the betterment sustainability and welfare of our community.
2) we’ve seen time n again how wrong they were such as with DeBlasio etc.
3) when I see these activists I know who not to vote for.
What a shame to see this.
why “a shame”? apparently this display serves you well to show you how you will proceed.
Many of the people I know are voting Yang because he is Asian. The Asians have not attacked our communities. Also if Yang wins the democratic primary it would be easier for a Republican to win.
I worked with Eric he came to my Avos u Banim program, went Philadelphia to ad vacate for Rubashkin no other elected official tried to help.Where has Yang been all these years.Vote Eric for Mayor the best candidate!
