The day following a major groundbreaking event, construction began in earnest for the building expansion of Lubavitch Yeshiva of Crown Street in Crown Heights.
2,000 people attended the historic event marking the future expansion of the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva school, and gave participants a peek at the expansion plans while expressing appreciation to the major donors who will be funding the construction.
The following day, crews were seen on the property, as construction began on the five-story addition to the building. The project, which is planned to add an additional 19,848 square feet of space, is scheduled for completion in about 18 months.
The plans add additional classrooms to accommodate another 150 students and include a huge gym, 3 resource rooms, 2 mental health offices, and a beautiful new shul with 13 ft. ceilings for the older grades to daven together.
The building is located on the corner of Crown Street and Albany Avenue, and aside from being a flagship Chabad Yeshiva which educates hundreds of boys each year, serves as a communal hub, hosting hundreds of L’Chaims, Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, upshernish and bris ceremonies, and communal events every year.
