The elections for Gabboim of the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway, held parallel to the Vaad Hakohol elections, produced a more clear picture.
The 1,932 eligible votes have given the previous Gabboim a grand welcome back to the Rebbe’s shul, expecting them to fulfil promises of making 770 “a place for all Chassidim” and “restore it to its real glory.”
The winners are Menachem Gerlitzky with 1172 votes, Avrohom Holtzberg with 1116 and Yosef Losh with 1066.
All 3 were favorites of Crown Heights Bais Din member Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Shlomo Segal, a dayan at the Bais Din.
Current Gabbai Zalman Lipsker, associated with Rabbi Yaacov Schwei, made it in by a mere 3 votes with a total of 969.
Another current Gabbai Uri Niasoff got 952, short by just 15 votes.
Other candidates for Gabboim who didn’t make it: Yosef Baruch Spielman with 645, Mottel Chein with 717, Nochum Kaplinsky with 376 and Yossel Motchkin with 253.
“These are the results as of now,” Rabbi Avrohom B. Rosenberg, the Monsey dayan monitoring the elections, has announced at the end of the counting at 3:04 AM.
Asked about a possible recount, Rosenberg told COLlive.com: “We’ll allow it. It’s close enough for human error.”
Both sides art asking for a recount (one hoping to remove Lipsker, the other to get Niasoff in).

B”h!
go Rabbi Gerlitzky!!
mazal tov, your great, keep it up!
Lipsker ran in the previous elections only with the permission of R. Osdoba and R. Segal.
I know this for a fact.
For those who delude themselves and think that before gimmul tamuz 770 was a respectable place for a fremde person because of the furniture, they are forgetting that what made 770 a respectable place was the PEOPLE in the Shul who respected and loved one another, who didn’t care for what the outside world thought and did what’s right. A fremde person would come in and see the brotherhood of the Chassidim and leadership of the Rebbe and not care what the furniture (signs) looked like. We can only blame our selves for not having an ounce of self respect,… Read more »
You might have a different attitude if you internalized, that although, on the one hand, we’re in a period of imense darkness &concealment; nevertheless, the Rebbe is the Rebbe here & now!! as much as before & ever increasingly (“Yatir”!); not, as you write, a “memory”.
May we quite literally have Moshiach NOW!
To those with remarks about the signs
think again. It strenghtens our belief that the Rebbe
is with us forever and ever. Those signs should be your
biggest problem!!!
hello all of you. welcome to the real world. 770 is kinda weird to a fremde person, they walk in and are greeted with pamphlets abt yechie and pleas to write in the igros and sign various lists. it doesnt come across as a respectable place.
As long as the signs are up, 770 is not a place to bring my balei-battim. Get rid of the signs! They disgrace the shul and the Rebbe’s memory and are merachek yidden. Those signs cause more damage to Chabad then the worst misnagdim!
Whoever thinks that Zalman Lipskier is A Rabbi Schwei person, got it all wrong. He is anything but a Schwei person,,
He never sided with any ROV , always makes and made sure that right thing is done without letting politics interfere.
Zalman we wish you Hatzlachah and dont change and be sure tp stay who and what you are.
Go from Strength to Strength.
there is only one head to chabad which is the rebbe. they might be mashpieim and run the rebbe’s moisdois but they are not the heads of chabad.
I want to see the signs down, the heads of chabad farbing in 770 (such as reb yoel, yuel, and even avremel).
I would also like to see the rebbe in 770 this year shnas 770.
shlomo segal (a great guy in all but) is not a dayan he is a motz (moreh tzedek – answers shaalois)
once again it has been proved that the true rov of CH is rabbi avrohom osdoba
while, for some odd reason, he lost the din torah, the CH community has come out in full force (the biggest attended election in its history) and backed his candidates for the jobs
well done CH
An Emes’dig Yid Un a Vareme Chassid!!
Yay!! Great news!!!
i agree with #12.
lipsker supports the tzfatim.
although i agree they have gotta go. i dont see why a sign should bother you,if it didnt bother you before gimmel tammuz why does it bother you now? the rebbe made a mistake? (i dont even want to discuss those that were against it before gimmel tammuz, who never had the smallest amount of chassidishlkiet or bitul to go against their own ego’s etc.)
i daven in 770, am a complete lubavitcher, and i still say yechi. and i like the signs up there. and i dont see why we have to take them down.
No peace, no listening by G-d to any Tefilos. Get rid of the signs that shouldn’t be in Shul & the tsfatim who beat up people they don’t like. Then i can bring my kids & grandkids.
hopping for a change!!!!!!!!!!!! in 770
WHY IS KATZMAN PUSHING FOR A RECOUNT ? ISN’T HE WITH OSDOBA ? I THOUGHT OSDOBA LIKES THESE GABOYIM.
Get rid of the yechi signs!
Just what everyone was hoping for
Att: All Left’ies: If you guys wouldn’t have abstained from voting for Gaboyim – Lipsker would have not made it at all! What a pity!
i think the election has shown that the community wants change, and that more people are againts the tzfatim then are in favor
so did i but if lipsker gets in you know it wont happen, i hope they do a recount and he is out!!
They were doing a good job for years, how did they get pushed out in the first place?
I voted for all of you & i hope to see hefkairus disappear in 770. A shul is a mokoim koidesh and don’t be afraid to put your foot down.
