We would like to share our gratitude with you and your readers for the response we have received to our request for help with our Chabad House.
Two weeks ago, we were excited at having raised the necessary $150,000 for the down payment on our Chabad House. That excitement turned to shock when we heard that an additional $60,000 was required–and fast! With such short notice, the best solution to us seemed to be making an appeal to Anash by posting on COLLIVE.
The COLLIVE article generated immediate ACTION. Over 200 people reached out to help: people ranging from old friends to total strangers. They donated anywhere from $5 to $7,500, with a total of $47,500. This response has overwhelmed and humbled us.
A primary cause of disillusionment and despair can be when we witness fragmentation and discord among chassidim: between mosdos and those they are supposed to serve, between Anash, etc. Here we have witnessed the opposite: chassidim who care deeply for one another and join forces to help actualize a project that will spread Yiddishkeit and chassidus. After experiencing the generosity of Anash over the past few weeks, we clearly see the success that comes through the unity of chassidim. Your outpouring of support expresses the partnership that all chassidim share in fulfilling the Rebbe’s vision and mission.
When the Tzemech Tzedek risked his life for Jewish education, Reb Itche Volozhin asked him: “How can you permit yourself to risk your life—what will be with the community [if you lose your life, G–d forbid]?” The Tzemach Tzedek responded: “I will answer like the Gemara does—with an answer and an alternative answer. First, there are the children [who can succeed me]. Second, the unity among chassidim will lead them toward Moshiach.”
May this achdus and tzedaka help us reach the goal of the ultimate campaign–to bring Moshiach and the geula shleima!
