Camp Gan Israel of Montreal marked a milestone this week, when on Monday, 11 Av, all 276 campers woke up early to take part in the “Cocoa Club” program.
The Cocoa Club program encourages campers to wake up early to learn Mishnayos by heart, before regular camp schedule begins. The boys, individually and with their bunks, receive points for various prizes.
The program is run by the camp’s Tzivos Hashem director for the past two summers, Shmuly Ceitlin, who says this summer the daily participation in the Cocoa Club program exceeds 200 campers.
Ceitlin has set up a system of incentives for the campers to encourage their excitement in the program. Staff members assist by testing the boys on their knowledge.
“This summer has truly been exceptional for mishnayos baal peh in CGI Montreal,” said Ceitlin, “and will IYH continue until the last day!”
