As part of their comprehensive social skills program, boys from Cheder Darchai Limud in Crown Heights put up a team effort and learnt how to build a sukkah.
After much success in its opening year, the after-school program expanded this year to add an extra class for the underchallenged in addition to the two existing remedial classes.
“We had to introduce a new type of curriculum and materials which we produced for this population and the boys have to work really hard,” says Rabbi Yehuda Adelist, Director of the program, “but ultimately they can handle it and the sense of accomplishment they achieve at the end makes it worth it.”
Cheder Darchai Limud is a learning enhancement program for both academics and social skills and operates from 1:00 to 4:00 pm to keep the boys mainstreamed while simultaneously receiving the enhancement services they need.
