Participants of the JLI Retreat this summer will have the opportunity to meet one of the true greats in the Jewish world today, Rabbi Yisroel Meir Lau, who will deliver a number of lectures.
Rabbi Lau, a former Chief Rabbi of Israel, is a brilliant, charismatic, and world-revered figure who has visited with countless global political and religious leaders including Nelson Mandela, Ronald Reagan, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Tony Blair. Rabbi Lau is a master storyteller – his book, “Out of the Depths,” is the harrowing, miraculous, and inspiring account of his life in one of the deadliest Nazi concentration camps, and how he managed to survive against all odds.
Descended from a 1,000-year unbroken chain of rabbis, Rabbi Lau served as Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, from 1993 to 2003. He is currently Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv and Chairman of Yad Vashem. He is one of the few figures in the Jewish world who has managed to gain the trust and admiration of the Sephardi, Ashkenazi and secular populations.
Rabbi Lau will be joined by many of the most respected scholars and teachers of our day, making a truly impressive lineup, at the annual JLI Retreat which will take place July 31 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
