An exciting meeting took place this week in Crown Heights.
Crown Heights businessman and activist Meir Bukchin hosted the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Dovid Lau, for a special meeting with prominent Roshei Yeshiva of 770, including Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Shneur Zalman Labkowski and the mashpia Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi as well as other members of the 770 Hanhala.
The Bukchin residence was filled with discussion of Torah, Shulchan Orach and many other matters. They spoke Divrei Torah including thoughts on Pilpulim, a number of which were written by the students that were gifted to the Chief Rabbi.
Interestingly, the Chief Rabbi discussed one of his own Pilpulim which was discussed at length. It was on the topic of Yichus, and the laws of yuchsin (ensuring the lineage) when it comes to IVF, something that the Chief Rabbi has spoken about in the past.
The Bochurim from the 770 Kvutza that attended also spent a while speaking and being questioned on different topics they were learning currently.
The Yeshiva heads also requested support from the Chief Rabbi to help get recognition in the government of Eretz Yisroel for the Kvutza program. To which he responded that he is going to work on it and try to report back good news.
Meir Bukchin, who offered his home for the meeting, tells COLlive, “It was an incredible honor to be present at this get together, and hear so many Divrei Kedusha from such special people.” He continues, “I am sure many positive things will come out of this gathering.”
