Chicago’s annual Yud Tes Kislev farbrengen was held on Thursday night at The Bellows Center FREE of Chicago.
Rabbonim, Shluchim and Anash from throughout the metropolitan area of Chicago participated.
The guest speaker, Rabbi Shlomo Sternberg, Mashpia of Oholei Torah, spoke of the many aspects of Yud Tes Kislev with Chassidic stories and insights, and the practical implications for Chasidim today.
The event was chaired by Rabbi Levi Notik of the FREE organization which hosted the Farbrengen.
Other speakers included Rabbi Yosef Cohen, Mashpia in the Lubavitch Mesivta, who made a siyum on Tanya, Followed by the Haschala and remarks by Rabbi Shmuel Notik, Director of FREE and leader of the Russian Jewish community.
Before introducing the Guest Speaker, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, Head Shliach in Illinois, outlined the many opportunities for Mivtza Chanukah in Chicago, as well as the upcoming Shabbat Chicago program. Rabbi Moscowitz encouraged Anash to sign up as hosts for the many students and young professionals who will be coming for a Pegisha Shabbaton in Chicago over Yud Shvat weekend.
During the course of the evening a Chalukas Hashas for the coming year was arranged by Rabbi Yosef Chaim Lester.
Later in the evening the bochurim of the Lubavitch Mesivta in Chicago joined the Farbrengen as Rabbi Sternberg continued to farbreng until 4:00 AM.
Rabbi Sternberg also visited Lubavitch Girls High School where he inspired them with the message of Yud Tes Kislev.
