A beautiful evening commemorating the 17th Yahrzeit of Chayale Levy obm took place at Lubavitcher Yeshiva this past Tuesday night, Yud Tes Teves. Family, friends, and community members gathered together in the elegantly transformed hall to remember Chayale.
Opening the evening was Rivky Levy, a loving sister in law of Chayale a”h whom, although having never met her, is powerfully connected to her soul. Rivky welcomed the guests and introduced an initiative she created along with her husband Sholly Levy a few years ago called ChayalasMikva.org, which was created to continue Chayale’s legacy, furthering the education of taharas hamishpacha and eventually to build a mikva in her name. People were encouraged to donate to this incredible initiative.
The Rebbe’s kapital was recited by Malky Levy, and a very moving poem which was composed by her other daughter Chaya, who carries her aunt’s name was read to the crowd. Cards were distributed to all of the guests to make Hachlatas on behalf of Chayele which were brought to the Ohel.
Mrs. Devorah Leah Angyalfi, a close friend of Chayale a”h spoke about the way Chayale’s Ahavas Yisroel impacted her tremendously. “Chayale had a way of transforming any difficult situation into a happy one. She gave so much of herself to others and many times kept nothing for herself. Her true joy in life was in giving to others,” she said.
A special Ahavas Yisroel award was instituted at Chabad Girls Academy for students to receive each month along with an Amazon gift card sponsored by Essel Eyeware. Mrs. Anygyalfi introduced the students to perform Chayale’s favorite song “Nekadesh”, for the audience.
Talented singer and songwriter Esther Freeman accompanied the girls on guitar, and cellist, Laura Melnicoff played alongside her as well. Esther elevated the spirit of the room as she joined the girls in a song she composed on Ahavas Yisroel called “To Love Another.” The girls’ faces shone with pride as they sang with confidence and joy.
Shainy Evers, a close childhood friend of Chayale a”h read a beautiful poem to the audience, highlighting the outstanding qualities and lessons she learned from Chayale that still inspire her today. There was a lot of positive energy in the room that encouraged the audience to find ways to better the world with some of the lessons that Chayale taught. Living in the moment, sharing and giving to others wholeheartedly, and always looking at the bright side, and counting our blessings in life.
Esther Freeman continued the evening with delightful niggunim, and captivating songs that she composed. The crowd was moved by the music and clapped along to the lively tunes. Esther’s message of Ahavas Yisroel connected with Chayale’s life and continues to resonate today as her legacy lives on through her family, friends, and in the hearts of the students of CGA.
May Chayale’s memory be for a blessing and continue to inspire us all until we can be reunited with her very soon with the coming of Moshiach and the complete and final redemption.
