In another disturbing incident amid a troubling rise in antisemitic acts across New York City, a Chassidic man was assaulted Motzei Shabbos while walking near the Chabad World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
The visibly Jewish and Chassidic victim was suddenly punched in the face by a black man who shouted antisemitic slurs and expressed support for Palestinians. The attacker also threw a soda can at a second victim.
The assailant fled the scene but was apprehended by the NYPD and Shmira following a brief chase. The victim was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Video shared on social media reportedly captured the suspect behaving violently just moments before the attack.
This alarming incident is the latest in a string of antisemitic attacks in New York, sparking concern within the community over the growing trend.
We must learn how to fight.

This guy threatened a jew and was acting erratic on Montgomery and Utica on Shabbos afternoon. Because he didn’t actually do anything the police let him Go. Seems like he came back a few hours later and did something. Very clever policing…
He wasn’t “acting erratically”. He was being threatening, violent, and antisemitic. Don’t use language that dismisses violence against Jews as a temporary mental health issue. That wouldn’t be acceptable with any other form of hatred against minorities.
He made trouble friday night and was sent by police to a mental hospital. They released him right away saying he was mentally diaturbed. Wasnt arresting until the 3rd incident!
