A Chassidic Jewish man was violently attacked on Friday afternoon, as he walked down the street in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
The possibly bias-motivated incident happened at approximately 3 PM on President Street between Utica Avenue and Schenectady Avenue.
The 32-year-old victim was walking down the block when he saw an unknown male walking toward him, police said.
Without provocation, the attacker turned to the victim and stated “what are you looking at?” the victim told police.
The male then punched the Jewish man in the head and face, causing injury.
Prior to fleeing, the attacker added, “the Nazis should have killed you Jews.”
Crown Heights Hatzalah transported the victim to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
“This is a very troubling and worrisome incident, especially that is occurred in broad daylight,” Rabbi Chanina Sperlin of the CHJCC told COLlive.com. “I am sure that the Police will increase security around the neighborhood over Shabbos to ensure the safety of local residents.
“It is important that we find this individual right away and get him off the streets,” Sperlin said.
Sperlin says he contacted the office of Mayor Eric Adams to inform Senior Advisor to the Mayor Joel Eisdorfer, and Commissioner of Community Affairs for the Mayor Fred Kreizman about the violent attack.
Police are currently searching for the attacker, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Jewish blood is not cheap. But the police here are not arresting the criminals who target our neighborhood, instead they are going after people who defend themselves or others. There has to be a huge overhaul of govt starting from the top. Until then the only way is for us to actively defend ourselves and put the fear in the criminals.
It should have been the criminal that was “transported to the hospital with injuries”. I assure you that when THAT happens these incidents will magically disappear. You have the worst demographics living among you including all the drug (aka ‘homeless’) shelters which the city felt free to burden you with. Stop being afraid of the police who are not on the side of the law abiding in Crown Heights. Start defending the neighborhood.

THIS is the result of the HOMELESS that are crawling the streets of crown heights. The satmars developed all these buildings never thinking that corona would hit and the yuppies would go home. They were left with these apartments that are too small for jews so they rent it out to the city to criminals with vouchers. its a win win for them. But we all know that there is a long documented history of these crimes against the Jews of Crown Heights going on for the past 40 years or more, compliments of actual crown heights residents..
Are you sure you know the identity of the building owners? And that they willingly sold out our community? I would be careful about casually stating such serious speculation as fact. It sounds more like the work of a City that is biased against religious Jews. IF what you say is true, then a major discussion needs to be had with such owners. A bais din could put them in cheirem. And there are many legal actions that could be taken especially in light of the crimes that have been committed and the ongoing threat to children.
