Twenty new public menorahs installed and hundreds of small menorah kits distributed helped illuminate scores of events throughout upstate New York’s Capital Region this Chanukah holiday.
Bochurim Mendy Bressinger and Motti Rubin assisted Shluchim at many area Chabad houses, reaching many Jews from all walks of life and spreading the spirit of Chanukah.
Numerous signs at Albany City Hall, the NYS Capital, Bank of America, Shoprite Supermarkets and Crossgates in the area offered that if you ‘Need a Menorah, Call Chabad,’ which also helped spread the word.
“We got a call from an intern for the Governor at Albany City Hall, who said, ‘I’m from Queens, living here now, and I don’t have a Menorah. I saw your sign. Can you bring me one?'” Moti Rubin told COLlive. “Our ‘Mitzvah Brigade’ immediately sped downtown to deliver a Menorah, candles and holiday guide! This is just one of the many examples of individuals who were touched by Chabad this Chanukah.”
A Chanukah display at the Empire State Plaza Concourse enabled hundreds of State Workers and officials to join the holiday festivities. There was also a special presentation by Rabbi Yisrael Rubin to the honorable Jack MacNeny and Bob Reilly who are retiring after many years of service.
