A large food distribution took place Thursday in Crown Heights, benefiting hundreds of local families.
The food distribution was coordinated by the Chamah organization in conjunction with the MET Council and the CHJCC.
The event was one of a number of similar distributions which are taking place around the city to strengthen communities that have been victims of recent hate crimes.
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke visited the site where volunteers were busily packing over 1,500 boxes, thanking them for their service.
In attendance were Rabbi Hillel Zaltzman – Director of Chamah, Berri Spitetzki of Chamah, Eli Cohen of the CHJCC, and Eli Slavin, Liaison to Congresswoman Clarke.
Later on, over 500 families received the food packages, which included chicken, gefilte fish, dairy products and fruits and vegetables.
