R’ Chaim Yehuda Hein, a pioneer of the Chabad community in Morristown, passed away on Tuesday evening, 28 Adar 5780, after a lengthy illness.
he was 77.
Born in the Bronx, he studied at The City College of New York. In the 1970-80’s, he founded and led Chabad activities in Mountain Lakes, an affluent borough in Morris County, New Jersey, as per the Rebbe’s instructions.
He is survived by his wife, Sara, and children: Pesach Hein – Teaneck, NJ, Chaya Krinsky – Morristown, NJ, Rabbi Yitzi Hein – Pittsford, NY, Chevee Szokovski – Teaneck, NJ, Leah Cohen – Rochester, NY, and grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He is also survived by two sisters.
The Levaya will be taking place tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2pm, at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont NY, and is limited to immediate family members only.

I knew him as a fellow course participant in White Meadow Lake, NJ’s wonderful Chabad House (Rockaway, NJ), about 20 years ago: He had such a kind and pleasant presence!
So sad to hear this.
Bde. He was such a nice man, and an excellent driving teacher. Bh I’ve been able to and will continue doing lots of good thanks to those driving lessons.

He was a very special individual (in the Morristown) & other community. He was always with a smile, & a very joking man. Always had lots of patience. Every time I saw him whether @ a simcha or elsewaer we always had something to laugh……he will be missed, an old friend.
Sara and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember good times with Chaim and you many years ago when I was in college with Chaim’s sister Sheri. You were both so welcoming. May his memory always be a blessing. Ruth Fries Goodin
