Chabad of Israel has opened up a command center led by Rabbi Levi Mendelsohn, and appointed by Rabbi Yossef Aharonov– Head Shliach of Eretz Yisroel- to lead this mission with decisiveness and clarity. He is giving a round up of week 1 on the operations of Chabad of Israel.
This week we have all witnessed the unfathomable events in Eretz Yisroel.
Chabad of Israel swiftly responded to the needs of the Jews there.
We have over 85 Shluchim in the communities near the border, and 28 Shluchim year round in all the hospitals.
The Rebbe has given us clear directives of how to respond in such situations, and we are proud to be putting in all our efforts to answer the call to action in the way the Rebbe would have wanted us to.
Here is a round up of how Chabad of Israel is making a difference in these trying times.
We have opened up a command center to respond to the various needs that are currently facing the Yidden in Eretz Yisroel.
The four fronts that we have responded to are:
Terror Victims Supporting the devastated families of terror victims and of hostages PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, & SPIRITUALLY
Injured & Wounded Caring for the injured and wounded as medical facilities are overwhelmed PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, & SPIRITUALLY
Our Chayalim Assisting and encouraging the soldiers fighting for our Nation PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, & SPIRITUALLY
Communities under Attack Aiding the communities of Southern Israel who are locked indoors and under attack PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, & SPIRITUALLY
This what we have accomplished so far on all 4 fronts:
We have thousands of volunteers sitting with the families of mourners and abductees, and supporting their diverse needs.
Hospitals: We have been supporting more than 3,000 families with food, accommodation and laundry. We have also been providing Spiritual support and encouragement.
We have more than ten thousand volunteers daily among the armed forces.
We have purchased and distributed more than 12,000 emergency lights for power outages at the shelter. So far, 2,000 families have applied for regular food assistance to make ends meet. On Sunday, we will distribute another 10,000 toys to children who are confined to shelters.
We are also transferring families away from the front lines whilst providing them with all their needs.
Many of us have been occupied with burials,Taharahs according to Halacha, and identifying individuals R”L.
On the spiritual front:
We have given out 400 pairs of Tefillin, 1,000,000 Shabbas candles, a few hundred Mezuzahs, and have set up 1000 Tefillin booths.
We are also addressing personal situations. For example we have evacuated more than 20 families of critical cases to hotels in central Israel, such as an amputee immigrant from Ukraine whose home has no shelter.
One of the shluchim contacted us that he paid with his personal credit card to needy families and were unable to pay the bill. We immediately transferred the money to his personal account. These are two of many examples.
Our team has been joined by the 1100 Shluchim around Eretz Yisroel and thousands of Anash that stepped up at this trying time.
As we support the frontlines, there is so much uncertainty, but our hearts are warmed by the response and support we have received so far from our Chabad family, and larger Jewish community.
We are humbled and truly feel like one family facing this tragedy together.
Please continue to support Chabad in Israel as we address the continuous urgent needs on every front.
