It was in the year 1911 in the city of Vilna, that the Siddur Seder HoAvoda – al pi nusach Ha’Arizal was first published by the famous Romm printing house. Thirty four years later, in 1945, the Rebbe used that very edition, along with the Siddur Torah Ohr, to create the Siddur Tehillat Hashem we know today.
After numerous reprints and various size changes, many of the words began to blur. As a result, a lot of the letters and their nikkud were hard to decipher, particularly amongst youngsters who had never davened before.
With the dawning of the digital age, numerous attempts have been made to reproduce this Siddur, in a clear typeset. All efforts have fallen short, by failing to maintain the original pagination or font that we are accustomed to.
Sixty years following the Tehillat Hashem’s first release, Kehot Publication Society set out to recreate the Siddur in its entirety. Kehot began to restore the Siddur by digitally remastering it, one page at a time. Then, in the year 2007, Kehot unveiled the Siddur LeShabbos VeYom Tov, which was received with great acclaim. In September 2009, just in time for the new school year, Kehot went on to produce the classic numbered Siddur used in schools worldwide.
This year, at the traditional Siddur parties held in pre 1A classes, it was this edition of the Siddur that was distributed to the children graduating pre 1A.
Mechanchim have been extremely pleased with their choice of distributing this siddur. “With its large format and clear typeset, it makes it easier for the talmidim to decipher the words… what a pleasure,” said Oholei Torah Principal Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Lustig.
Kehot Publication Society has since released additional variations of this Siddur. In addition, Kehot plans on having this newly typeset Siddur in the upcoming reprint of the Chitas, and have designs on releasing the classic full edition by the year 2011.
What is the reason that Tehillim has not been reset.
Yeah, seriously, get a new tehillim finished already! Half of them are in the new siddur anyway, just copy and paste. It wouldn’t hurt to get the Tanya in a new typeset either.

What a waste of money to insist on “digitally remastering it”! Rather than retyping it and retypesetting it. and still producing a heimishe siddur.
Artscroll is a great example of using modern typesetting to produce an aesthetically pleasing siddur which is a hit in many circles.

I can’t thank U enuf – I have 2 kids learning 2 read this year BH and it’s no comparison to when my older kids had the older siddurim. Clear, big, bold.

You probably pass it every day but have never noticed this.
Take a look at Adon Olam in any old Tehilas Hashem Siddur and look closely at the word Yetzur. You can clearly see the vov was drawn in with a pen (turning the yud from may other nuschaos into a vav).
I was told this hand written correction was done by the Rebbe.

you obviously have never tried to teach a child from a siddur. that he cant make out half the words or neukodos. I have.

“means the pidyon$ is perpared in the fathers hand,& given immediatly after both brochos.

Do they also plan to remaster the tehillim? So far I only saw the siddur part redone but in the back of it, the tehillim still is a blur especially since there is trop around the letters that can be hard to decipher the nikudos
When is the full siddur coming out?
This is much nicer and closer to the original then the Siddur from Israel, and much nicer then the one from Otzar.
In Yehi Chevod in Pesukei Dezimra LeShabbos, the Psik (line) between Goyim & Hashem was left out! Please add them before selling.
The Siddur is visually beautyiful. I was also interested to read the history of the Tehillas Hashem Siddur. Kol HaKavod to Kehot for this massive project.
One question – are little kids the target users of the Siddur?I plan to buy the Siddur regardless, but I want to know if it is meant specifically for the little ones?
