Lag BaOmer 5773, April 28th 2013 – saw over 250 guests gather at the prestigious Surf Club, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Chabad Russian Center of South Florida.
The warm and sunny evening began with lavish poolside cocktails and hours d’oeuvres. Mingling amongst the crowd were a variety of local politicians, councilmen, foreign dignitaries and distinguished patrons from across the globe.
The Chabad Russian Center, located in Sunny Isles Beach FL, is directed by Rabbi Alexander and Chani Kaller. Together with their ever growing community, they took this 10 year milestone as a time to reflect, and be inspired by, their achievements and accomplishments so far.
The evening honored Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haykov – “Founder’s Award”, Mr. Gennady Krupnikas – “Leadership Award” and Mr. and Mrs. David Raynshteyn – “Benevolence Award.”
Presented with a beautiful gold and silver decorated Mezuzah and the “Guardian Angel Award,” Chief of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department Fred Mass was thanked for his constant efforts to guard and protect the Community and City of Sunny Isles Beach.
Celebrating 10 years of “Spreading the Light,” the Chabad Russian Center has grown and expanded to now serve thousands of Russian Jews in South Florida.
Many of whom had been oppressed and victimized for their Jewish beliefs in the former Soviet Union, they wanted to express their gratitude to their Shluchim and the Rebbe for the proud Jewish life they and their children are now able to live.
The Center hosts Weekday and Shabbat services, Adult and Women’s weekly classes, Seniors Programs, Chabad Hebrew School, and a happy and vibrant Chabad Pre School – The Gan as well as myriad of other social, educational and religious services.
Thanking each and every member that has helped make this possible, Rabbi Kaller urged the crowd to pledge and support a one-of-a-kind building of their very own! Large design renderings displayed on canvases throughout the hall, showing every detail of the future building and its pivotal role in the Community’s bright future.
Enjoying a 3 course dinner, Chazzan Yaakov Motzen and acclaimed saxophone player Vadim Kazarin entertained the crowd, surrounded by a massive wrap-around wall display of the “Happy Faces of Chabad’s 10 Years of spreading light and joy”.
