As part of numerous events celebrating it’s first decade anniversary, Taglit-Birthright Israel arranged a festive welcome for 400 Birthright participants to Israel today who arrived on an El Al “Decade Flight.”
A quarter of the 400 participants came to Israel with Mayanot and were accompanied by their campus Shluchim, Rabbi Shmuel Posner of Boston University and Rabbi Zalman and Yehudis Bluming, of Duke and UNC Universities.
The large celebration included music, dancing, and greetings by prominent philanthropists and Israeli politicians.
“Mayanot is very excited to participate in this milestone which has had and continues to have such a large impact on Jewish life,” said Avi Weinstein, Director of Mayanot’s Taglit-Birthright Israel program.
“It is only through this program that Mayanot together with many Shluchim have been able to touch the lives of tens of thousands of participants over the past decade.”
Taglit-Birthright Israel has provided a free educational ten-day tour of Israel to more than a quarter of a million young Jews from around the world over the last ten years. Mayanot is one of Taglit-Birthright Israel’s largest trip providers.
