As the highly anticipated CTeen International Shabbaton kicked off, CGI Poconos hosted a heartwarming alumni reunion, bringing together campers eager to reconnect with their camp friends. The event, organized and led by Rochele Klein and Sheina Sandler, set the tone for an unforgettable weekend of Jewish pride, unity, and inspiration.
The reunion was filled with excitement as the alumni reunited, exchanging warm hugs and reminiscing about their cherished camp memories. The room buzzed with energy as the girls participated in a lively dance party, moving to the beat of nostalgic camp songs that brought back the magic of their summers at CGI Poconos. A thrilling Jeopardy game tailored to their shared camp experiences added to the fun, sparking laughter and friendly competition.
Beyond the fun, the reunion was a moment of reflection and gratitude. The girls appreciated the deep friendships and meaningful experiences CGI Poconos had provided them. “The connections we form at camp last far beyond the summer,” said Executive Director Gershon Sandler. “It’s incredible to see how these friendships continue to flourish.”
This reunion was just the start of an incredible weekend for CGI Poconos. Since many campers come from communities without a CTeen chapter, CGI Poconos runs a special chapter just for them, giving them a place to celebrate their Jewish identity together.
The Shabbaton, expertly organized by CTeen International, continued on Friday with a meaningful visit to the Ohel, where the girls had time for personal reflection and prayer. This set the tone for the rest of the weekend. Afterward, they joined other teens on fun trips before preparing for Shabbos.
As Shabbos arrived, the girls gathered with thousands of Jewish teens for beautiful Shabbos meals, enjoying songs, conversations, and the warmth of being together. Singing their favorite CGI Poconos Shabbos songs, they strengthened their connection to their Jewish heritage and the wider CTeen community.
Motzei Shabbos was one of the biggest highlights—the famous Times Square Jewish pride concert. Thousands of Jewish teens filled the streets, singing and dancing with excitement and unity. The CGI Poconos girls soaked in the energy, standing together with pride.
The Shabbaton ended with a powerful closing ceremony, leaving the girls inspired and uplifted. The weekend reinforced the values they learned at CGI Poconos, reminding them that they are part of a strong and supportive Jewish family no matter where they go.
